Broadcom is now worth $2.3 trillion.

At that scale, the CFO role is a capital allocation seat with direct exposure to how AI infrastructure gets funded next.

Amie Thuener took over on June 12, succeeding Kirsten Spears, who will stay on as adviser for nine months. Thuener was hired from Alphabet Inc., where she spent eight years as Vice President, Corporate Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer. Before that, she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance LLC for 16 years, rising to Managing Director of Transaction Services.

That second detail is the one to underline. Transaction Services at PwC means M&A advisory, carve-outs, and deal structuring. Broadcom just closed a $69 billion VMware acquisition that is still being integrated. Its AI infrastructure business is scaling rapidly, with custom processors built for clients like Google and OpenAI.

The financial reporting complexity and governance demands of a $2.3 trillion business all land on one desk. The board chose someone whose career sits at the intersection of financial controls and large-scale transaction execution.

The question is whether this transition helps Broadcom maintain the discipline that funded the VMware bet while AI spending accelerates. The first quarterly filing under Thuener will be the earliest signal.

Does this hire suggest Broadcom is tightening controls ahead of integration milestones, or positioning for another large capital deployment?
